Insurance broker Charles, his wife Hélène and their son live a seemingly idyllic life in the countryside near Paris. Charles, however, suspects that Hélène is having an affair. He hires a private detective and discovers that his suspicions were correct. He confronts his wife’s lover, but the meeting results in a violent act that upends the family’s once peaceful lives.
